Students at Accrington Academy are celebrating their GCSE results today and have been praised for their effort and work over years rather than months.

Today’s results include some outstanding individual achievements reflecting the hard work, determination and commitment shown throughout their time at school.

Among the highest-achieving students were:

• Nida who achieved five Grade 9s, including Grade 9s in English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and 9-9 in Combined Science, Grade 8s in History and Spanish and a Distinction at Level 2 (D2) in Health & Social Care;
• Ari who achieved a Grade 9 in English Literature, Grade 8s in History and Mathematics, 8-8 in Combined Science and strong Grade 7 results across a number of other subjects. Ari also secured a Level 2 Distinction in Digital Information Technology;
• Ezekiel who achieved a Grade 9 in Chemistry alongside four Grade 8s;
• Amina whose results included a Grade 9 in History, Grade 8s in Chemistry and Mathematics and Grade 7s across Biology, English Literature, Physics and Spanish;
• Aisha who achieved a Grade 9 in Mathematics together with Grade 8s in English Language, Geography and Spanish;
• Rio who secured 9-8 in Combined Science, a Grade 8 in Mathematics and a Level 2 Distinction in Digital Information Technology;
• Ehsan who achieved a Grade 9 in Arabic, Grade 8s in English Language and Mathematics and 8-7 in Combined Science;
• Curtis who achieved a Grade 9 in English Literature and 8-7 in Combined Science;
• Freya who achieved Grade 8s in English Literature and Combined Science;

Nida commented:

“I am really happy with my results; I have worked really hard and I am very proud of myself”

As students now progress to sixth form, college, apprenticeships and other post-16 opportunities, the school wishes every member of the Class of 2026 continued success in the next stage of their education and training.
