Opening of the Festival
The Accrington Festival 2010 opened on World Book Day (4th March) and poet/comedian John Hegley was the headline act.
He opened the festival with a performance for Key Stage 3 students and spent the afternoon working with groups of students on their own books.
The theme for the festival this year is food and the students created their own A - Z of food. Apples, ear wax and wasps were on the menu as John encouraged the budding writers to experiment with words and let their imaginations run wild!
