Professional development is at the heart of our philosophy. As a Training and Development Agency Badge school, Investor in People school and Partnership Promotion Status school we actively promote opportunities for all staffs development. As well as utilising national courses such as leadership pathways, leading from the middle and NPQH, we are extremely proud of our internal support structure and the benefits we receive by being part of the ULT/UCST family of schools.

We are also proud to be offering one of our staff the opportunity to undertake an 'Excellence' visit to America this year.

A chance to be Creative. As a Creative Partnerships 'Change School' we are actively involved in working with a range of partners and practitioners to enhance the learning experience of students. This approach can be seen throughout the academy in our innovative approaches to whole school issues and structures such as our curriculum design and student support. If you want the freedom to take a risk, the Academy is certainly for you.

Accrington Academy also aims to be at the heart of the community. Ranging from our enjoyable family celebration weekend, programme of community clubs and teams and range of evening classes, we actively want to be at the heart of learning in our area.

We are in the top 5% of schools nationally for CVA in the last two years.

We have a cutting edge approach to the curriculum and its delivery. Our curriculum reflects our desire to ensure that all students leave the academy as not only qualification machines but as well rounded capable and independent learners.

Notable features of our approach include a ''competence curriculum' in years 7 and 8, a 'learn to learn' cours, leading the diploma in Creative and Media, strong vocational provision and a genuine approach to collaborative working
through the 'HRRV Learning Consortium'.
