Rock FM Project
A competition took place on 12th May 2009 here at Accrington Academy along with some of the staff at 97.4 Rock FM to make adverts on the topic of Mobile Phone technology within schools.
Day 1 - 12th May 2009
Around 45 students from year 7 interviewed Paul Hurst at rock fm on positive uses of mobile phones and how they can be used within school lessons. The interviews continued to discuss the future of mobile phone technology.
The day extended to the task of creating an advert to promote the positive use of mobile phones using the I.C.E Formula: an Introduction to the advert, the Content of the advert and then an Exit. During this process groups have to design and discuss a range of features of what they would like their mobile phones to do within lessons if technology was endless.

Throughout the day the students worked with their Rock FM Mentor, Steve T in creating their advert, they discussed what they already had and gathered a few pointers from Steve in developing their advert. Each group then had to pitch their advert to Paul Hurst who assessed each group on content / delivery / presentation and script writing.

Each group recorded their advert, see below, from what they had put together throughout the day on the Rock FM bus and this was then edited along with some sound effects and backing tracks which became their final advert. The groups where then judged to see which three groups would get the chance to go to Rock Fm a week later to record another advert in a professional recording studio.
