Uniform Requirements

As with all ULT academies, we expect all students to wear full school uniform. The uniform helps us establish a clear identity for the academy and instills a sense of pride in our students.

It has been designed to be smart, affordable and practical for students in a modern educational environment. Parents who send their child to the academy are expected to fully support the uniform and appearance policy.

Students in Years 7 – 11 at Accrington Academy are expected to wear uniform. A student not wearing complete uniform must bring an explanatory note from home. An unexplained lack of uniform may result in a student being sent home to change.

Students are required to wear academy uniform at all times (unless told otherwise e.g. non-uniform days / activity days out of academy).

All uniform items marked with an * are available from the academy reception office.

• Black tailored trousers / skirt (recommended skirt, no side slits and no more than 3 cm from top of knee )
• White blouse / shirt (to be worn tucked in, top button fastened)
• Academy tie with college colour *
• Navy waterproof outdoor jacket with academy logo*
• Academy sweatshirt with logo *
• Plain black shoes (no coloured markings/coloured laces) - trainers or boots are NOT allowed
• Bag, with correct equipment for lessons
• Muslim students are permitted to wear a plain black Hijab.

Uniform for Year 11

Year 11 students have an alternative uniform to replace the standard white shirt, tie and sweatshirt. Their specific uniform consists of a royal blue polo shirt and a navy sweatshirt. Both of these items have the academy logo and are available from the academy reception office.

If you are in doubt about whether a particular hairstyle is suitable for the academy, you must discuss the matter with your College Director or Pastoral Manager before having a change of style.
