Education beyond the classroom

If students are to extend themselves and develop every aspect of their knowledge, skills and talents, it is important they take advantage of all the academy has to offer.

This includes taking part in activities organised at the end of the school day and during non-term days.

Extracurricular activities include:

• Drama and music clubs
• Individual and group tuition in music provided by specialist teachers
• Sports teams and clubs
• The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme
• Trips to theatres, museums and universities
• Academy stage productions.

Each week and during holiday periods, the academy offers booster classes to enable students to enhance their levels of achievement and success in a variety of curriculum subjects.

Strong work experience links are developed within the local and wider community to give older students the opportunity to experience, at first hand, a variety of careers and work environments, before making their own career choices.
