Courses
The Sixth Form curriculum has you at its heart. It will offer a more personalised approach to learning though a wide range of courses, catering for all abilities at all levels. Be it a programme leading to university entry or a course working towards employment, we will help equip you with the skills to reach your chosen destination.
The Sixth Form provision offers a personalised approach to learning, catering for abilities at all levels. The curriculum offers a range of courses designed to allow progression. in to university, employment or further training. Our provision is based around the following:
AS and A2 Levels - We offer a range of AS/A2 levels and these can form a full offer or could be combined with our pathways offer. For a full offer students can choose four of the following:

Our Pathways Offer is based around the following four strands of provision (for a breakdown of the courses and levels being offered please consult our prospectus)
Creative and Media
In this pathway the courses offered include Fashion and Clothing, Art and Design, Media Production, Games Development and Performing Arts. We are also very fortunate to be leading the Diploma in Creative and Media at levels 1, 2 and 3.
Sports Science
The sports courses we will be offering are delivered through our five sporting centres of excellence (Sports Academies) these will be in
Dance, Football, Cricket, Golf and Snooker.
These will be run partly at Accrington Academy and partly at North Lancashire Training Group. The course will comprise of a core qualification, practical study, work experience and specific sporting qualifications. Students will also have the opportunity to enroll on a fitness instructor's programme.
Beauty, Health and Care
We will be offering Health Studies for students wishing to pursue a career in the Health Professions and Social Care for those wishing to specialise in Care. We will also offer level 2 and level 3 courses in Children's Learning and Development. These are especially popular for students looking at employment in the Early Years Sector or applying to university for primary school teaching. Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy courses are also available and will be run in conjunction with North Lancashire Training Group.
Business and ICT
Business, Enterprise and ICT are part of our Specialism and we will be looking at all our vocational courses including a business module. This pathway includes ICT and Business languages. An option for some students to combine with AS/A2 Business Studies will complete the package. Your learning will also be enhanced with a comprehensive extracurricular offer of activities ensuring you leave the academy as a well-rounded individual.
