Applying to the Sixth Form

Welcome to your future! Here at Accrington Academy we will work with you to open the door to an exciting world of opportunities, built upon the best educational foundations.

The Sixth Form Curriculum has you at its heart, offering a more personalised approach to learning through a wide range of courses, catering for all abilities at all evels. Be it a programme leading to university entry or a course working towards employment, we will help equip you with the skills to reach your chosen destination.

As a part of Accrington Academy Sixth Form, you will have access to the very best facilities including a dedicated common room, state-of-the-art ICT suites, drama and recording studios and the latest interactive technology throughout the Academy. To assist you in our studies all students will receive their own laptop for the duration of their studies at the Academy.

Open Evenings
We invite you to see and experience the Academy for yourself at one of our special ‘Sixth Form’ open evenings. Meet staff and students, see our facilities and find out which courses are best suited for you.

Admission Limit - Year 12's
The admissions limit for Year 12, subject to student course combination choices, will be 125. The Academy will accept external students up to that figure, less the number of the Academy’s own students who are accepted into Year 12. If this year is oversubscribed, applicants whose permanent address is closest to the Academy will be admitted.

Entry Requirments
The minimum entry guideline for internal and external applicants will be: Advanced Courses (All level 3 programmes) – four GCSE’s at grade A* - C Intermediate Courses (All level 2 programmes) – an average of grade D at GCSE Foundation Courses (All level 1 programmes) - an average of grade G at GCSE
